ABCNews.com reports that country music star Randy Travis and his ex-wife manager Elizabeth are back in court arguing over her management of the singer.

Mother Who Relocated Loses Custody.

Mother's relocation inside the Commonwealth causes change in custody.  In the case of Turpin v. McGowan, the Virginia Court of Appeals, in an unpublished opinion, held that a trial court properly changed custody of child from mother to father where mother moved with the child from Stafford County to Sterling, Virginia and then again to Vienna, Virginia without a court order or without consulting father.

Pet Custody Battles Can Be Expensive.

ABCNews.com reports that a New York man has spent $60,000.00 litigating the issue of whether he or his ex-girlfriend will get custody of a dog. In Virginia, couples do occasionally fight over family pets.  In general, family pets are treated as property and the cases are decided pursuant to the Virginia equitable distribution statute.  As of today, there are at least five case from the Virginia Court of Appeals or the Virginia circuit courts deciding the issue.

New Circuit Court Judge for Fluvanna County.

The Daily Progress reports today that the Hon. Susan L. Whitlock will take over as circuit court judge in Fluvanna County. 

Virginia Court Should Not Have Transferred Support Case To Louisiana.

In the case of ONeil v. ONeil, the Virginia Court of Appeals, in a published decision, held that this spousal support case should not have been transferred from Virginia to Louisiana. Virginia Code § 20-88.43:2 requires that the court that issued spousal support order retained continuing, exclusive jurisdiction to modify the support order for its duration. This court was the court that issued the spousal support order.
